Scatter Plots: What are They and What Do They Tell Me about My Patient?

Laser-based hematology analyzers generate scatter plots illustrating patterns of cell distribution. Some of this information is used to generate the numerical values present on the hemogram, but other important pieces of information are left up to the interpretations of the user. The use of scatter plots generated by laser-based hematology analyzers will be reviewed as a tool for enhancing the information available for your patient.
