Eyelid Surgery in Brachycephalic Breeds

Brachycephalic breeds can suffer from many ocular problems ranging from chronic corneal surface disease to more serious conditions like descemetoceles and proptosed globes.  Careful assessment of a brachycephalic patient’s conformation can help determine appropriate medical and surgical planning to minimize risk of vision-threatening problems in the future.  We will discuss specific strategies to combine prophylactic medical and surgical treatments in order to maximize lifelong optimal ocular health.
